Music, it's a part of everyone's life. From childhood sing-a-long songs, to garage grunge music, and everything in between music is everywhere. Growing up with an extremely musical background it was in my genes that I would become a musician. Playing music has helped me become the person I am by being a release for my anger, broadening my future and make new friends..
I first joined the band in the fourth grade playing the drums. I played for about two weeks then I quit because I didn't like it, mostly because of the teacher. In the sixth grade we got a new music teacher and told me I look like a trumpet player, so I gave it a try. I was taking music lessons but after the first one my music teacher told me she had to leave because she had breast cancer but told me never give up on playing music. She told me it was in my blood. Our new music teacher had no instrument knowledge so I was left to teach my self. I worked and worked and no part of it was easy. Many times I wanted to quit just forget it and do nothing, just be a student. Then I came to junior high school with a real marching band and concert band. The first day all the people, the instruments, the sounds of music, and the soon to be camaraderie was just mind blowing. I continued to play the trumpet and in the ninth grade picked up the bass guitar. I joined a punk rock band and played bass for about a year, and then we broke up. I still play both my bass and trumpet through high school and plan on continuing playing not only in college but for the rest of my life.
Music has been such a big help in my life. When I would have troubles in life I could always listen to my music or play music and write songs about things going on in my life. I still remember the time I heard my first Blink 182 song. It made me feel indescribable. Ever since then I've turned to music as a release.
