1. What were the most important factors that allowed Mao Zedong to emerge victorious in the Chinese civil war?
Mao Zedong as a Chinese military and political leader from 1893 to 1976 and lead the Communist Party of China (CPC) to victory against the Kuomintang (KMT) in the Chinese Civil War. Some of the factors that stood out for Mao Zedong was the Second Sino-Japanese War. The war against Japan took out most of KMT's military resources, and the central army under Chiang could not recover from losses in the very early stages of the war.

2. Was the partition of India into two nations at independence beneficial or detrimental to India's long-term development?
The partition of India was part of the British Indian Empire who lead to the creation of the sovereign states of the Dominion of Pakistan and the Republic of India in 1947. This was a division between Punjab and Bengal. The purpose of the partition was to provide a division of assets like the British Indian Army, the Indian Civil Service and Railways. The partition also contributed to the largest population transfer in history with over 17 million people leaving their homes. To review the partition of India and wonder if it was beneficial or detrimental to India’s long term development could be viewed either way. The initial attempt was to provide boundaries and political power agreements. But there was much fight over religion and financial stability as well as power. This process of partition had caused many riots and claimed many lives. Over 15 million Hindu and Muslim refugees moved across the borders to regions completely foreign to them and their identity was lost. Today this partition continues to negatively impact both sides of India. There is much history lost and ruined economies. There are no leaders to follow by, nor, a good system of government. India and Pakistan have been to war twice since the partition and they are still deadlocked over the issue of possession...
