What was Stanley Kubrick intending to accomplish within three of his films, Lolita, A Clockwork Orange, and Full Metal Jacket? Would these films be made differently, and, if so, how would they differ if it had been a different decade? Why these particular movies were popular within Kubrick’s career and popular throughout the general public?
Lolita:
- based from the well – known best seller book written in 1959; made into a film in 1962
- before the film was made the underlying truth of it was looked at as being taboo
- whether or not the film would still be produced if the book had never been so popular or if it had never been written at all
- the reviews it caused and why considering there hadn’t been many movies made before this time that could be explained as corrupt, disturbing, or immoral
- was the popularity and attractiveness expected by viewers and by Kubrick himself A Clockwork Orange:
- based from the novel in 1965, A Clockwork Orange was made into a film in 1971; what provoked Kubrick to make it and his intentions.
- specific examples as to why some call it Stanley Kubrick's "most immoral movie."
- political measures taken by the government before and during the time the film was being produced that would directly influence it
- explicitly realistic through the portrayal of human behavior; the reality behind natural human behavior
Full Metal Jacket:
- differentiation between this movie based from the Vietnam War and others and what the themes and ideas prove about war
- whether these exposed realities are present in other war movies that may not be the Vietnam War
- reaction of the viewers of the movie and if Kubrick's intentions were successful
- the bias opinion of the circumstances within the war which is demonstrated by specific examples throughout the movie
