“Don’t stop Believin” The song “Don’t stop believing”, by Journey, explains how rough life can be and become at times. Everybody has their days, but it’s all about what you make out of those days that counts. You just have to keep believing and stay strong through the ups and down. Life, we all have it, but it’s hard to decide what you’re going to do in it. Keep hoping for the best, stay motivated and open your eyes to everything out there. Don’t let anything hold you back especially from your dream. One thing that nobody can actually deny is the fact things happen for a reason. In the quote, “some will win/ some will lose/some were born to sing the blues” (17, 18), consequently, there is actually truth in the line, something that people can relate to. Every person will “win or lose” at some point in their life. Clearly then, the lines become very real to the listener. The listener realizes that win or lose, sometimes you will grieve or “sing the blues” then you brush yourself off and go on. The lyric shown represents imagery and allusion. Pursuing this further, you can see the imagery if you picture somebody losing or winning. You can picture somebody grieving and in pain (singing the blues). The lyric, “some were born to sing the blues” (18), shows an allusion because they are talking about the blues. The blues is a form of music, but they are eluding it as somebody being sad and blue by talking about the color. They did not actually mean for somebody to go “sing the blues”, even though some might when they get down and sad, but I highly doubt very many people do this. The color blue has always represented a cold color and always emphasized sadness. Most people would paint their rooms in blues because it can also be a calming color, therefore relaxing you while you begin to sleep. There is always somebody that needs somebody to love.
