Who Do Men Say I amÂ…

(Jesus the Man of Humanity and Divinity)

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (St. John 1:1) This verse clearly describes Jesus Christ as the Word of God for He was in the beginning, He was with God, and He was God; however, this alone may not be enough evidence for you so the scripture further down goes on to say: "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. Jesus was made flesh through the womb of a virgin (Mary) in order to fulfill the plan of God for salvation, yet he was the Word from the very beginning. (Fuller, Perkins 131) Everything God commanded since the beginning of creation Jesus fulfilled in obedience. "And God said, Let there be light: and there was light."(Gen.1:4) This light came from Jesus, and was created because Jesus is the light of the world and without him there is no darkness. Also in the scripture St. John 1:4-5: "In him (Jesus) was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. From the very beginning of time God has spoken his commandments and wishes for us to follow, and has sent them by way of himself (Jesus) and the five fold ministry. He still sends His word by way of the five fold ministry, signs and wonders, and hasn't changed. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever more. God has used his word to inspire, be a light, encourage, rebuke, and to create the universe so that it may all give him glory for who He is.
