Do you occasionally feel blue or sad? Have you ever had feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness like nothing you can do with to improve your situation? Are you losing interest of daily activities, for example your formal hobbies, pastimes, social activities, or even sex? Are you experiencing insomnia or oversleeping, feeling fatigued and physically drained, even small tasks are exhausting? And those emotional and psychical changes to you life just would not fleet and get pass? If you do, you are possibly having depression. Depression disorder is a common but rather serious psychological illness. When people are experiencing depression disorder, it interferes their daily life, health, social ability and cause pain to themselves and people who care about them. This is just not negligible.
From journal article Wellness, we could learn deeper about depression from knowing different types of it. The most common type is major depressive disorder and dysthymic disorder. When we hear the term “depression”, it is mostly refer to major depressive disorder, also called unipolar depression. Major depression is characterized by persistent sad mood and combination of symptoms that cause inability to maintain normal, healthy and productive life. If you have been “depressed”, cannot function normally and get pass it for a period time, you are not just depressed; mostly like, you are experiencing major depression.
Dysthymic disorder is more moderate compare with major depression, which normally would not dysfunction a person’s life too much. The symptoms of dysthymic disorder are less severe than major depression but it is long lasting, could last up to two years or more. If you have been depressed for mostly of the time mildly to moderately, although that would not affect your normal life too much, you are possibly having dysthymic disorder.
