Democracy?
The government spends 270 million dollars a day in Iraq. 270 million dollars every single day. 270 million dollars that could be used for what’s really important like education, or providing health care for its people. Instead they waste money and life for a cause their country doesn’t even support. 77% of the American people are against the war in Iraq; apparently they forgot the definition of democracy.
On September 11, 2001, 3,000 innocent Americans said their last words as the most violent and unprecedented attack in American history took place. Osama Bin Laden has been proven to be in charge of the elaborate operation. Osama Bin Laden, not Saddam Hussein.
George W. Bush used the terrorist attacks on 9/11 as a reason to launch an illegal war on Iraq. It’s very easy to see, if you open your eyes. George Bush took the most tragic event to happen in recent U.S. history and used it as a cause for something completely irreverent. He used it to go into Iraq, which had not, one thing, whatsoever, to do with 9/11. Bush made invading Iraq the number one priority. Wouldn’t it make more sense to go after the man responsible for taking our planes, crashing them into our buildings, and killing 3,000 of our citizens?
Among the many reason Bush gave to go to war, perhaps the most memorable one is the claim that Saddam Hussein had “Weapons of Mass Destruction”. After months of intensive research, the UN weapons inspectors have been unable to find any of these so called “Weapons of Mass Destruction”. George Bush lied to the American public. This violates one of the main Core Democratic Values and base to our country, Truth. This entire war is based off of nothing but lies.
The Bush Administration also proposed this reason for the war on terror: Taking Saddam Hussein out of power, the idea being, with their evil dictator gone, Iraq will be able to become a democracy and establish themselves as a free nation.
