Date Rape

Date rape is a serious issue among college campuses today.   Women do not realize it when it happens but they realize that they are a victim after it has happened.   A big question that comes to mind is how do you know if you are guilty of date rape or if you are innocent.
At the University of Illinois 1 out of every 3 women are raped.   Not just by your ordinary guy though, it happens 99% of the time in a fraternity house.   It also is not just one guy that does it either, it is a part of the brotherhood of the frat where two or more guys gang up on a girl and decided to take advantage of her.   According to the video and Lois Pineau it is partially the woman's fault as it is the man's.   The woman is not forced into the bedroom with the man, but she claims that she is raped.   In Pineau's article she states that date rape is a non-aggravated sexual assault, it is nonconsensual sex that does not involve physical injury.   So according to Pineau in order for a man to be guilty of sexual assault he must have believed that his victim did not consent or that she was probably not consenting.   This is where the two stories differ.   In the video they state that every man is guilty, but according to Pineau a man is not guilty unless he knows she is not consent or if there is serious injury caused to the woman.   In either case it is wrong for a man to even think about raping a woman.   What it comes down to is whether the man was forceful or not, if he was and hurts the girl, then it is rape.   If not then she wanted it just as bad as him.
