Fitness Test Evaluation Form
Rockport One-Mile Walking Test

The Rockport One-Mile Walking Test is a way to measure VO2 Max Capacity. VO2 Max is also known as maximal oxygen consumption. It is the maximum capacity of an individual’s body to transport and use oxygen during exercise (Hodges, 2013). VO2 Max is used to determine the physical fitness of the individual. As a student of this class, you will use this test to determine your initial physical fitness and your improvement in physical fitness throughout the course of this class.

The Test: Walk one mile around Cook Field, and take your heart immediately afterwards. (Heart rate directions on page 24 of your book, you want to calculate beats per minute)

Before you Calculate VO2 Max:
1. Calculate your weight in kilograms: ___73________
(Multiply your weight in pounds by 0.454)
2. Convert your One-mile time to seconds: ___872_______
3. Remember your heart rate in beats per minute taken immediately after finishing the one-mile test

Males
139.150
Minus (0.1692 x ____73____) weight in kilograms
Minus (0.3877 x ____19_____) age in years
Minus (3.2649 x ______14.6__) time in minutes
Minus (0.1565 x ______110___) heart rate in beats per minute = ___54.2436______ Aerobic Capacity

Females
132.835
Minus (0.1692 x _________) weight in kilograms
Minus (0.3877 x _________) age in years
Minus (3.2649 x _________) time in minutes
Minus (0.1565 x _________) heart rate in beats per minute
= _________ Aerobic Capacity

Your Aerobic Capacity refers to the amount of oxygen your body can use each minute (the more oxygen you use, the better your fitness level). Once you find your aerobic capacity, use Table 2.2 on page 30 of your book to interpret your results. Write a half a page interpreting your results and attach it to this document.

The purpose of the graded exercise test is to assess the cardiorespiratory capacity (VO2 max). The VO2 max is used to identify the level of cardiorespiratory fitness of the individual. Days before the graded exercise test, I’ll give Tonya instructions, such as eating breakfast, but no tea, coffee, and chocolate because caffeine may affect performance and results. She has to wear exercise clothes and running shoes. She will sign a consent form after the physician explains the entire procedure. During the test, I will measure her resting heart rate and blood pressure; she will do 3-5 minutes of warm-up to become familiar with the equipment and prepare her muscles for the test. She will start walking at a low speed on the treadmill, then the…

This test protocol is used to obtain VO2 max measurements and is ultimately the most popular among the testing of athletes. The main strength of this test is that it is a direct measure of maximal oxygen consumption. This test indicates a subject's aptitude for success in prolonged events as well as the level of health of subjects' cardiovascular and respiratory systems. The test consisted of five 3-minute stages, in which you are able to walk the first three stages. During each stage, a set percent treadmill grade and speed is obtained. During the test, the subjects' breathing and heart rates are monitored through the use of respiratory and metabolic/gas equipment along with heart rate monitors. At each stage all of the data is recorded according to the protocol. The test is over when the participant is no longer able to continue or when all of the criteria have been…

Submaximal VO2 tests are extremely useful for determining estimated VO2 maxes for a subject for a variety of reasons. VO2 max measures the maximum amount of oxygen that can be used by a person undergoing intense physical exertion. VO2 max is considered the best test of cardiovascular fitness and aerobic endurance. If a person can utilize more oxygen, then they are able to use that oxygen as a final electron acceptor to make ATP through aerobic metabolism. When an individual’s metabolic requirements, outweigh the amount of oxygen they are capable of delivering, their bodies switch to relying on anaerobic metabolism and will quickly be unable to continue exercising at that given intensity. VO2 max testing can be used in a variety of settings. Fitness centers, potential employers such as firefighters or policeman, or endurance athletes would all be people that would potentially be interested in having a trained individual administer a submaximal VO2 test.…

According to Piaget’s theory, intelligence is the development by interaction between body and environment. We have four main stage of developed intelligence and every stage mark the development of the brain. For instance, sensorimotor stage (birth to age 2) is the stage that children understand the world by a combination between sensory and action. Concrete stage, children can perform a number of logical operation, and the next stage is formal operation stage that children develop the ability to think and solve abstract problems. Almost psychologist agrees with this theory. However, I do not totally agree with this theory because when we apply this theory, it means intelligence like as a stair so we have to complete this stage to go the next stage. It cannot explain about super youth who can do abstract math at 5 years old and graduate university under 15 years old. In my opinion, intelligence is not only depends on age but also training. I had read a book “I have to go Havard to study business” (Vietnamese book was translated from Chinese book) this book tells a story about a girl who received fours invitation of top 4 schools in the US. At the beginning, she has nothing better than the others but she has her parents who teach and train their daughter from 3 years old with unique methods to get success at age 15. It means we can get success so soon if we have right methods. In my opinion, children study day by day at primary school, secondary school like as developing stage of cognitive in Piaget’s theory, so Piaget’s theory make a barrier for developing people, it make us follow a circle we have to complete primary school and then you go up to secondary and final is university. For instance, in my country you cannot graduate high school if you were not 18 years old.…
