1. Who was Lord Emsworth? What was he doing that fateful morning?
Lord Emsworth was the ninth earl of Emsworth and a member of Threepwood Family. He was the owner of the Blanding’s castle. He was forgetful and absent-minded. Lord Emsworth was not a man of action he just used to speak things and didn’t care about the outer world. He was just bothered and worried about objects, here about his garden and the pumpkin, which he wanted to win in the competition.
That fateful morning he was looking through his telescope, which he had ordered recently for himself. This is when he saw Freddie with the girl across the water meadows.

2. What was Lord Emsworth's opinion of Freddie? What did he see Freddie do? Why did this shatter him?
Lord Emsworth saw Freddie hurrying jauntily across the water meadows to meet a girl -the cousin of his head gardener. He was really shocked to see this and he immediately ordered his head gardener to depart from his castle and go away.
Lord Emsworth wanted Freddie to obey him and listen to him but as he really didn’t care about his son as he was lost in his nature loving and choosing another gardener to look after his pumpkin. This scene of Freddie kissing the girl shattered him because he had thought of a girl who must be rich with some money and the wealth would be of Freddie after they marry! This is why Emsworth disapproved Freddie seeing the girl, as she was not wealthy enough.

Lord Emsworth took an immediate wrong action. By taking this prompt action Lord Emsworth suffered a lot worrying about his pumpkin.
