Cultural Diversity
This paper that I’m going to be talking about will be about Cultural Diversity. First let me start out by defining the term cultural diversity, this is differences that exist between people, such as language, dress, and traditions, and the way the societies organize themselves, their conception of morality and religion, and the way they our interact with the environment.(wikipedia 2008)
Now that we know what cultural diversity is let’s introduce who I am. My name is Adrian Chapman and I come from a fairly large family, the majority of my family is Hispanics. This race has been around for ages, I’m a male and there are a lot of things that I can say about my race, but I will stick to the basics. Our communication style is very unique; I say this because we are bilingual.
A bilingual person is somebody who is able to conduct a conversation in two different languages, in my opinion this is very cool and good knowing two languages.
But this advantage can also be a disadvantage for us Hispanics to, the reason for this is that sometimes our secondary language (Spanish) affects our primary language (English) for most of the Hispanics. Now let’s move on being Hispanic as I am while growing up as a kid I learned a lot of things that are very important. To start off with my values, they are simple but effective. They are have respect for others, being a good problem solver, being very trust worthy, using group collaboration, using unity, caring about my family and my families feelings, marking my family first priority to me.
Now as I talk about assimilation (is a process of integration where by members of an ethno- cultural community such as immigrants or ethnic minorities is brought into a larger community). (Kottak 2007) this has become a big part of mine and my family’s life, he reason for this is because living by a little town by the border of Nogales, Arizona. We have lots of immigrants trying to enter our country all the time...
