Critical Thinking
Critical thinking: What is it and how does it apply to our everyday lives? Critical
thinking is a process using reflective thought on deciding what to do in a situation. Critical
thinking is used so frequently in our everyday lives and most do not recognize that they have
used this very resourceful tool to come to most of their conclusions or decisions. Parents use it
when making decisions for their kids, employers and employees at the workplace uses it to make
decisions pertaining to their job. Children even uses critical thinking and this may be the time it
goes the most unrecognized, but still very effective. I use critical thinking on a daily basis at my
place of employment.
Whether I am serving in the field or behind my desk at the Naval Hospital I have to use
the thought process of critical thinking. I have to be able to accumulate thoughts and each
thought has the potential to emerge with others and create an enormous amount of new thoughts.
I work in an environment where I have to work with a variety of people and our thoughts
together help us form the best decision that will benefit us as a whole. We all meet in a group
setting and discuss the topics at hand and lay them out for recommendations and ideas that can
lead us to final decisions. When we meet in this setting we are usually meeting to arrange social
events for the command things such as the Holiday party, Navy Ball and many other social
events for the command. We have to take into consideration all those that may attend and how
we will gain their interest and hold it during the duration of the event.
This process begins with us all determining how we will gain the assets to pull off a
successful event. We have to come up with solid plans to raise money, as well as places to hold
the functions that we are hosting. This process goes by...
