Riordan Manufacturing has assigned a Corporate Compliance Officer (CCO) to review the agency’s policies and procedures. The CCO will recommend changes and additions to these policies and procedures that will allow Riordan Manufacturing to be in compliance. The recommended changes are discussed throughout this paper.
Alternative Dispute Resolution Clause
The first step for Riordan Manufacturing would be to incorporate an alternative resolution clause. Riordan’s alternative resolution clause will be, “Any person or persons who violate the Corporate Compliance Plan will be subject to disciplinary action. Disciplinary actions will include verbal and written warnings, suspension, and termination. The action taken will be based on the severity of the violation.” This clause will provide awareness to the employees of Riordan of the seriousness taken by Riordan regarding this Corporate Compliance Plan. The changes are meant to increase productivity and to allow Riordan to meet compliance obligations.
Legal Changes
Currently Mr. Lowell Bradford is responsible for answering legal questions, going over contracts and making legal decisions (University of Phoenix). Also, Riordan Manufacturing currently has a legal firm that they work with when requiring additional legal advice. The firm currently is paid on a monthly basis and no carry forwards of retainers are allowed even if there services are not used. If Riordan uses services in excess of their agreement, Riordan will pay additional fees.
Riordan should look into eliminate the law firm’s services. Mr. Bradford as Chief Legal Counsel, is qualified to answer legal questions and to approve contracts. Therefore to have the law firm provide the same services would seem redundant. Riordan should consider sending Mr. Bradford to...
