World Economic outlook
According to the survey published by the Economist – London, May-2008 (week 2), the economic growth for the world will be between 2.9-3.1 percents, which is expected to decrease to 2.5-2.8 percent in 2009.
Demand for copper
The demand for refined copper in 2007 was approximately 22.7 Million MT, which is expected to grow but not as fast as previous years. The 2008 growth in demand will be around 1.4% making approximate demand of 23.2 MMT. In 2009 the demand of refined copper is expected to rise to 23.6 MMT. A 670 KMT growth in demand of refine copper is expected for UAE over the period of 2008-2010, making it one of the biggest consumers of copper.
