Over this past summer I have had the privileges of going to a few Jonas Brothers concerts. I have gone to some concerts before this so I was expecting the usual gathering of people and music. I was extremely wrong. Over the summer it became my duty to learn “proper” concert etiquette according to the tween population of the U.S. and nearby countries such as Canada.
The first and foremost golden rule of this etiquette is that you must; a.) jump, b.) scream or c.) all of the above. After learning this precious piece of information I began to follow suit. Quickly though I realized that it is best to save the screaming for in between songs rather than during. During the screaming it is also acceptable to yell “I LOVE YOU!” at the band member of your choosing, you may also do this at any moment of awkward silence.
The second rule is that it is okay to bring your parent(s) to a concert. After learning this I noticed that there are two types of parents in the crowd; the unsuspecting newbies and the well prepared veterans, many forced to come. The unsuspecting newbies are the parents not quite sure what to do. They sometimes were seen sitting down and standing up, but all of them were holding their ears from the monstrous amount of screaming. The well prepared veterans were clearly the parents of spoiled rich girls who have been to many concerts. These parents were the ones seen with earplugs and, at those concerts allowing alcohol, drinking until they were unknowingly having a good time.
The third rule of concert etiquette is to always do as the band says. If the band is waving their hands wildly around in the air you must also do the same. It is like an unspoken version of Simon Says. In fact if you do not follow what they do they will continue to do it more wildly until you do the same. I also have learned that this rule only applies for the amount of time that the band does it and about 3 minutes after they stop doing it. The only exception is...
