Comprehensions About The Industrial Ecology

Industrial Ecology is a new subject which is closely related to the strategic thinking of sustainable development. “Industrial Ecology is the study of technological organisms, their use of resources, their potential environmental impacts, and the ways in which their interactions with the natural world could be restructured to enable global sustainability.” [1]As it is defined in the textbook, it’s a method which provides a whole new perspective to look at the development and evolution industrial economy and technology. It treats industrial system as a special of the biological ecosystem. It use the material recycling, energy flow, and the other basic principles to explain the conflict among the resource and waste treatment within one enterprise or different enterprises in one eco industrial park. To solve environmental problem can be considered from many different fields and aspects, but in my opinion, Industrial Ecology which focus on the industrial and technical point of view to coordinating the relationship between economic development and environmental protection is the most directly effective and fundamental means.
Describing and discussing the similarities and differences between an ecosystem and industrial system
The first common between an ecosystem and industrial system both of them exist the material circulation and energy flow. In theory, the material recycling in natural ecosystem can be achieved in the man-made ecosystem. Every kind of waste can find their ways in the traditional agricultural society. People took the food from the natural environment (crops, vegetables and livestock), and then put the waste and feces back to the farmland as fertilizer which was fully realized the material cycle. On an idealized industrial system, all the waste should get a suitable place by the proper way of handling. That’s the theory of the scholars and engineers to design the eco industrial park.
Secondly, the similarities between the two systems also are shown...
