In many movies, a lot of people think the main character, which is usually the good person, is the hero in that movie. You can hear people saying, ˇ§Oh, his is my hero.ˇ¨ But what is the actual meaning of hero? A good person? A person who is brave? Or a person who pursues honour through his action? Or is it something else? Well, ˇ§The Heroic Outlookˇ¨ and Walt Disneyˇ¦s ˇ§Herculesˇ¨ Apollo gives you some ideas of what is a hero. While the classical Greek heroic ideal and Disneyˇ¦s presentation of a hero share some similarities, in the end they are very different. In both ˇ§The Heroic Outlookˇ¨ and Walt Disneyˇ¦s ˇ§Herculesˇ¨ Apollo, hero is being defined as a man who has being endowed great abilities and is strong and brave. Although there are some similarities, there are still more differences between them. For example, hero in ˇ§The Heroic Outlookˇ¨ is a person who pursuits honour. On the other hand, the hero in Walt Disneyˇ¦s ˇ§Herculesˇ¨ Apollo is not like that; he uses his great abilities to help others, but not for his desire.
What are the definitions of hero? Well, if you ask people this question, you will get diverse answers to it. But arenˇ¦t there any common definitions? The answer is yes there are. Let us see some examples from ˇ§The Heroic Outlookˇ¨ and Walt Disneyˇ¦s ˇ§Herculesˇ¨ Apollo. Both ˇ§The Heroic Outlookˇ¨ and Walt Disneyˇ¦s ˇ§Herculesˇ¨ Apollo said that hero is who being endowed with superior qualities of body and mind. This means that he is born with these superior abilities; he is born to be a hero. He does not need to train himself like the others to become a person who has a great mind, great skill and capability because he is born with it already. Another example is hero is also being defined in both ˇ§The Heroic Outlookˇ¨ and Walt Disneyˇ¦s ˇ§Herculesˇ¨ Apollo as a person who is brave and strong.
