There are more similarities between Buddhism and Christianity and fewer differences. Both of these religions had one god. They were Siddhartha Gautama for Buddhism and Jesus Christ for Christianity. They also both believed they were both saved because Buddhists thought that by following the 8-fold path they could reach nirvana and also Christians thought that they were saved through Jesus Christ and would go to heaven. They also both had state support. Buddhists had Ashoka and Christians had the Pope and they were both secular.
Buddhism and Christianity were both monotheistic because they both believed in one God, but the difference was that they believed in different god meaning Buddhism had Buddha and Christianity had Jesus Christ. They both also started in one place. Buddhism started out in Northern India and Christianity started in the Middle East. Lastly, They were able to come up with the religions by the help of other religions because they both were built on earlier religions. Buddhism was built on Hinduism and Christianity was built on Judaism.
They both also basically had the same way of believing meaning that they both had beliefs of non-authority. There was one important fact that attracted women to these religions because both of these religions appealed to the poor, sick, and women. So, both of these religions attracted many people.
For missionaries the only difference was that they did missionaries in different places. Buddhism had their missionaries in different places in Asia and Christianity mostly was in Europe (some in Asia). They both had Disciples, which were followers. They both had monastic movement (monks and nuns). And also they both had state support because Ashoka was a Buddhist and started missionaries. Same goes with Christianity, the Pope supported the missionaries.
So the major similarity between these two religions is that they both were monotheistic and they both believed that they were saved through 8-fold path or Jesus...
