Don Anselmo and Mrs.Higgins are similar because they both stand up for what they want. They have in common that they are both being strong in the beginning. Don Anselmo and Mrs. Higgins are different because Don Anselmo stays strong throughout the entire story but at the end Mrs.Higgins does not. I would not say they are more different than similar because they both want something better for the kids in their life.…

When you compare The Hunt of the Unicorn and Tar Beach you will see many similarities that are visible to the eye without doing any research. The first of which is the dark backgrounds. They both have lighter colors in them that make the picture stand out, but a majority of the colors are dark. They are calm and flow well there is not a lot happening in each piece of art. In each there is one piece that is a little active. In the Hunt of the Unicorn, the unicorn is in motion, and in Tar Beach the girl is flying across the bridge.…
The most interesting short stories that caught my undivided attention were: “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and “Jealous Husband Returns in Form of Parrot” by Robert Olen Butler. These stories were both fascinating and intriguing in the sense that they made me feel like if I was the actual character. You could feel the pain and anguish the characters felt, even the desperation. It got to a point that I felt pity for the protagonist whom in both stories where narrating. Here we can see how someone can feel so desperate that they think the only way out is by taking their lives. Both Charlotte Perkins Gilman and Robert Olen Butler created an incredible form of fiction that makes you question if the scenes in the stories can truly happen in reality.…
The relationship between a father and son stems from an unspoken competition in many countries. Whether it is a physical or mental rivalry the superior role slowly transcends on to the son as he grows into a man. In Brad Manning's short story "Arm Wrestling With My Father," and Itabari Njeri's "When Morpheus Held Him," both contain admiring sons and impassive fathers. Despite both stories similarities in unspoken emotions they differ in the aspect of their physical relationships. This unrequited bond between a father and son in these stories portray various types of love.…
Everyday, stereotype is used in the society. Sometimes, when people use stereotype on other people, they don’t even recognize it because it’s so common and is ignored by the society. It’s a way to judge people through their common believes based on ethnicity, gender, skin color, appearance and language of the people who are being judged. For example, when people see a Vietnamese woman in her 20’s, 30’s and 40’s just migrated to America, they would assume that she will be working in a nail salon and flirt with some rich guys to get married with. Being stereotype is difficult deal with, and it’s really offended and hurtful. “The Myth of the Latin woman: I Just Met a Girl Named Maria” by Judith Ortiz Cofer and “Mother Tongue” by Amy Tan share some common and different stereotypes that they had to go through. In the story “The Myth of the Latin Woman: I just met a Girl Named Maria”, Judith Cofer wrote about her experiences being stereotyped as a Latin woman. In “Mother Tongue,” Amy shared her personal experiences being stereotyped with her language’s barrier. Even though the two female authors shared the similarity for being stereotyped by the society, they faced different situations on the way they were stereotyped.…
After graduating high school, playing college basketball was the only thing on my mind. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but it would transform me into being a totally different person. Although some people think high school has a lot in common with college when actually they are very different. Making it on a major college basketball team is every players dream. The nutrition, training, and time a person puts into basketball varies differently from high school to college…
The act of being habitually and carefully neat and clean can make for an interesting topic in a comparison and contrast essay. Dave Barry compares the differences of how women and men clean in his compare and contrast essay, Batting Clean- Up and Striking out. In Suzanne Britt's compare and contrast essay, Neat People vs. Sloppy People she compares the differences of personalities between Sloppy people and neat people. Both essays compare cleanliness in one way or another however they both have differences regarding their use of humor, examples, and points made in their thesis.…

When you love somebody you experience a full range of feelings such as tenderness and anger, calmness and annoyance, jealousy or despair. All these feeling running through your body that you have difficulties controlling them. Everything was great just the other day, and them in moments it all turns a mess. The churning feeling in your stomach makes you want to vomit, but you hold it in as you just want to scream for help. You adrenaline is rushing faster and faster and you just want to end the relationship right there, but with just a pause you remember how happy you are because of your love. Although riding a roller coaster is nothing like falling in love with somebody, these two separately different things alone can become similar if you break it down into a metaphorical way. With starts and stops at every bump and hump, and the tickling feeling in your nerves makes the ride even better. Both can cause you to feel risk and fear which casues your heart to beat even faster.…
Many people would say that living on campus is the “full college experience”; however, many commuters have said that they think that they are living college to the fullest as well. Each college student has their own opinions on which type of style they prefer. Both types of college experiences compare and differ in multiple ways. Commuting, and living on campus can be similar yet so different at the same time, and truly depends on what type of person you are and what fits your life.…
In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting "Gracious Goodness", by Marge Piercy and "To Have Succeeded", by Ralph Waldo Emerson. Both these poem provided different meanings to be succeesful. Most people think having money or being famous is the key to being succeesful, but that's not the case.…
