Community Service
Because of the situations that I have encountered through my participation in community services, I can honestly bring myself to the conclusion that I am a better person than when I didn’t perform these activities. Community service is a great way for students to step outside of their comfort zones and reach out to the people that are less fortunate than I am. It has helped to break some of my bad habits, and it has also really helped me out spiritually. I now see that there is a purpose for everything that happens in life, even though this is hard to see sometimes. Everyone in life has a specific purpose as well, because if I hadn’t served those people at the soup kitchen then they might not have eaten that night. For all I know I could have saved a life that night, and I believe that this is the reason why we as a people are put on earth. If schools did not require service time to be done then I think there would be a lot of students that would have never found their true calling/ vocation. I found my vocation through service, working with little children forced me to really see that I love to work with people. You can’t really be fully into a situation, and be happy until you take the chance and throw yourself into an uncomfortable circumstance and see just how you waver in this sort of scenario.
When it comes to community service, sometimes it can be rewarding simply to help raise money for an organization. However, it can be far more fulfilling to establish direct relationships with members of the community that I wish to become involved with. Direct experiences throughout my high school career affected me profoundly as I learned from individuals in numerous situations coming from all walks of life. Once you do get directly involved with a community, be consistent. Don't give up after a semester. Keep it up for the rest of your life. You won’t regret

Think back to when you were a kid and you waited anxiously for the whole school year to be over with so you could do that one special thing. For my friends and I it was going to the big, red bricked church down the road and getting free sack lunches. The older I got the roles had been switched, from receiving the lunches, to providing the lunches for the anxiously waiting kids. Community service changes the life of you, and also the lives of others.…

As long as I can remember service to others was always encouraged by my family and teachers. For example, I helped teachers with the intent of lightening their load of work so they can be able to go home earlier. Things like this make me proud because I am able to help others, and to bring a smile to their faces. My excuse to avoid community service was that I always thought that school was all about homework and getting good grades to be on the top 20 of your class. Truth is I have always overlooked this people thinking they were being lazy for not working, but through this community service I learned that each and everyone around the world is fighting their own battles and we all deal with them the best way we can. I am proud of myself because I went to that community service and learned about this people who I had always stereotyped by their actions, community service has encouraged me to actively listen and learn from others, to walk alongside my neighborhood and to build new…

Before I started doing community service I really didn’t care about others. I was just in my own world and just doing things that weren’t that beneficial for me and others. Studies have shown that volunteering increases overall health (“Benefits of Volunteering”). It helps individuals learn or develop skill sets that can be used to further job opportunities. Volunteering gives a person a sense of pride like no other and teaches people to become humble and respectful of others. While serving in a soup kitchen in Huntsville, I realized just how dependent others are on us for their survival. It was this experience that helped me understand that the people you come in contact with to help will stay with you forever.…

One of the most important community service projects I am involved in is volunteering at the food pantry. While we are at the food pantry we usually bring all the food in from the truck and then separate it out on the tables. We do this, so that people can walk through and take what they want in a orderly fashion. While working at the food pantry I have discovered that I wanted to become a nurse. The first time there I remember being excited about getting to help others eat for the next month. I know nursing is not the same, but I hope to achieve a personal goal of getting that excitement every time I help someone. Being involved has also helped me learn how to become a leader. I have done this by being an example for the younger students at…

    Short Story About My Life

Today I learn how to stack boxes in to shelf, for example Gatorade, Food cans etc. Working at a church is somewhat tiring but you’ll get a lot of exercise. Especially working out your biceps and your arms and legs etc. Helping the needs is a wonderful thing to do, especially around your community like a church, Food bank, shelter etc. Doing community service is a good life experience to learn new things and to help out around your community. The reason why I had to do community service is because I didn’t make wise choices, I was a bad influence to myself and to my peers. Today I learn it wasn’t that I needed to do community service, it’s to do it for life experience. I can learn a lot in doing things that are positive in life. In the past years, my life was all about negative thoughts and things that I did was completely bad and not positive. All I did was hang out with friends, did drugs stayed out after school and didn’t came home till night. I really didn’t know what I was going to do with my life, I was in a place where I didn’t need anything but my friends and drugs. I was stuck in a mess I couldn’t get out of. In till a couple of years past by I realized that I’ve been doing things that weren’t right and that were all miserable, for me and my family. I didn’t really listen to my parents at all, I ignore them and kept on doing things that were hurting my family. That’s where I realized that I needed to change my habits and my actions. Even though it’s been a year now I was still breaking rules, not following my curfews, doing drugs, not getting good decent grade. All I thought about everyday was doing drugs and hanging out with my friends that were bad influence to me. I didn’t care because I was used to it, I didn’t even knew what was really right or wrong when I was a young kid. During my 5th grade year, I usually wouldn’t listen to what my teachers are saying to me directly, I would ignore her and act like we never had the conversation.…
