Doctor and patient relationships My healthcare provider show confidence when interacting with me, the patient, by using paralanguage. The tone and volume of his voice is calm, he speaks with confidence while explaining an illness or new medication. His paralanguage gives me a sense of assurancance. I am confident that my healthcare provider know what he is doing and I trust him. My healthcare provider also shows confidence by using regulator communication with comforting body language, he maintains calm and collective. Even while discussing stressful situations like illness, he shows no sign of anticipation or stress. My healthcare provider maintains a professional persona. He also uses touch, to show his confidence.
He may give a comforting hand on my shoulder to assure me my health care is in good hands. My healthcare provider shows intimidation when interacting with me by using adaptor communication when faced with a concern he may not know how to address. In this situation he seems uncomfortable and nerves. He shows signs in his body language that he is intimidated by crossing his arms or tapping his foot with frustration. My healthcare provider also show intimidation by affect display, his facial expressions show that he is under stress. He looks as if he is at a lost for words, and show a sense of frustration. My healthcare provider shows indifference when interacting with me by using affect display, using facial expression to show a lack of interest. For example when my father was told his cholesterol was high and he should start eating healthier. My father didn’t listen, he continued to eat unhealthy.I could tell my healthcare provider lost concern for my father. My healthcare provider used a different paralanguage with my father.
