Communication and Collaboration Strategy

We all learn and communicate in many different ways. There are several learning styles that help you communicate effectively within a group. There are also learning styles that help you collaborate effectively. There are personality types that help you correspond effectively within a group. There are also personality types that help you cooperate with each other effectively within a group of individuals.

The key to working together effectively in a group is being able to adapt to the other team member’s learning style and personality type. People communicate in many different ways when they are in a group versus individually. People also have many unique ways that they learn when in a group setting. Being able to adapt to other individuals help teams to communicate and learn effectively.

Several learning styles that help people communicate effectively are Bodily-Kinesthetic, Verbal linguistic, Visual-Spatial, Logical-Mathematical, Musical, Intrapersonal, Interpersonal and Naturalistic. My learning styles that help me communicate effectively within a group are Intrapersonal, Interpersonal and Musical. Having Intrapersonal and Interpersonal learning styles allows me to work with people that have either the same or a different learning style from me. An Intrapersonal individual knows how to understand himself/herself in relations to others and knows how to think and reason. An Interpersonal individual sees things from the others’ point of view and knows how to create and maintain a relationship within a group. These styles also allowed me to collaborate well within a group. A Musical individual uses music as a way to learn. Musical individuals use rhythms and beats put into a song in order to remember information. During my assessment I realized that I was not much of a Naturalistic individual, however I like being at the beach in the sun. By having all of these learning styles I was able to...
