Various learning styles and personality types dictate the process of communication and collaboration among individuals. While important to recognize these different learning styles, an equal importance must be given to adapt a strategy to communicate effectively and collaborate among them to reach a common goal. We will look at Visual/Spatial, Intrapersonal, and Interpersonal as just a few of the different learning styles and a Thinker, Organizer, and Giver as different personality types and some possible strategies to communicate and collaborate within them.
Visual/Spatial learning can be described as manipulating images, recognizing the relationship between different objects, or the ability to perceive objects accurately. Some of the effective ways to communicate, within this learning style,would be to develop charts or graphs. This would enable the visual leaner to see examples of the material. Developing graphic organizers for new material would present a layout to see visually how new material blends together. And a third way to communicate with a visual/spatial learner would be to highlight notes in an organized manner using different colors.
Intrapersonal learning would be evaluating oneself own thinking. Or being aware of one’s expressing feelings. Understanding how theyrelate to others is also a key. Communicating and collaborating with this learning type would best be done in a quiet setting. Working together, to visualize information and keeping that information in a journal.
Interpersonal learning describes how people see things from another’s point of view. Creating a relationship with others and cooperating within a group present an atmosphere for discussion. This enables individuals to learn from one another by expressing individual ideas and experiences.
