The inventor of Coca-Cola named John Pemberton. Pemberton moved to Atlanta and started making and selling of patent medicines. One of his biggest selling items was French wine of coca. A cocaine laced Bordeaux wine that was popular throughout the world. At the time cocaine was not thought of harmful. Doctors gave them as a medicine recipe. Pemberton's formula also contained caffeine from the kola nut (which is actually a seed from a tree in Africa). He sold his "French wine of coca" as a cure for nervous disorders, disturbances of internal plumbing, and impotency. In 1886 he removed the wine so the substances would be like a syrup based medicine. After that he began with experimenting. The cocaine and caffeine were very bitter tasting, so plenty of sugar was added to mask these flavors. Citric acid then had to be added to provide some bite that would counter-balance the sweetness. This creation of new syrup became Coca-Cola.…
The 125 year old Coca Cola Company currently ranks 70th on the List of Fortune 500 Companies for 2011. Coca Cola began in 1886 when pharmacist John Pemberton in Atlanta, GA, sold a caramel colored mix that was combined with carbonated water and sold for $.05 cents a glass at Jacobs Pharmacy. The pharmacy sold approximately 9 glasses the first day totaling $.45 cents a day average. After John Pemberton passed away in 1888 the company rights were acquired by a business name named Griggs Candler for $2,300 (The Coca Cola Company, 2011). Candler led the way for the innovative product to become a business. He began promoting the product on everyday products so that the logo was everywhere and the aggressive tactic worked. The demand grew so quickly that there three production facilities were up and operating within 7 years. By 1920 there were over 1,000 bottlers of the product and in the 40’s the president helped to lay the international groundwork for the company to begin doing business overseas and ensuring that a Coke was available to many for a small price.…
Coca-Cola Company history originated in 1886 when the “curiosity of an Atlanta pharmacist, Dr. John S. Pemberton, led him to create a distinctive tasting soft drink that could be sold at soda fountains” (Coca Cola History, 2013, para. 1). He generated flavored syrup, took it to his neighborhood pharmacy, “where it was mixed with carbonated water and deemed “excellent” by those who sampled it” (Coca Cola History, 2013, para. 1). Dr. Pemberton’s partner and bookkeeper, Frank M. Robinson, is credited with “naming the beverage “CocaCola” as well as designing the trademarked, distinct script, still used today” (Coca Cola History, 2013, para. 1).…
Being a bookkeeper, Frank Robinson also had excellent penmanship. It was he who first scripted "Coca Cola into the flowing letters which has become the famous logo of today. The soft drink was first sold to the public at the soda fountain in Jacob 's Pharmacy in Atlanta on May 8, 1886. About nine servings of the soft drink were sold each day. Sales for that first year added up to a total of about $50. The funny thing was that it cost John Pemberton over $70 in expanses, so the first year of sales were a loss. Until 1905, the soft drink, marketed as a tonic, contained extracts of cocaine as well as the caffeine-rich kola nut. In 1887, another Atlanta pharmacist and businessman, Asa Candler bought the formula for Coca Cola from inventor John Pemberton for $2,300. By the late 1890s, Coca Cola was one of America 's most popular fountain drinks, largely due to Candler 's aggressive marketing of the product. With Asa Candler, now at the helm, the Coca Cola Company increased syrup sales by over 4000% between 1890 and 1900 Robinson (Anonymous, 2001).…

The first date a Coca-Cola soda was sold to a customer would go back over a century to May 18, 1886 at Jacob’s Pharmacy in Atlanta. He ran an advertisement through the Atlanta Journal stating that the drink was “Delicious, Refreshing, Exhilarating, and Invigorating.” Right after that advertisement was published a new one was created to give the product a push in the Industry to sell more. “John Pemberton ran a longer and more persuasive newspaper ad. It still promoted the drink as a ‘delicious, exhilarating, refreshing and invigorating’ drink, but added more promises that the drink is an ‘intellectual beverage’, ‘temperance drink’, ‘brain tonic’, and it even claims to be able to cure ‘headache, neuralgia, hysteria, melancholy’ and more”(Arandilla 2011). That being said Coca-Cola advertised consistently without the help of the advanced technology that we have in the present day. Even back then the advertisement didn’t have much truth to it, but because it was a time period so long ago people believed anything for the simple fact of nobody can say that the statements that were made by a company or organization were false.…
