Accuracy of data inputs is important. What method of data input would be best for each of the following situations and explain why: in the case of printed questionnaires, for this situation, I believe the most widely used input device, which is the keyboard, would work best. Questionnaires are made up of primarily letters and numbers that are easily found on a keyboard. Most people are familiar with a keyboard and creating a questionnaire should not be difficult.
In the case of the telephone Survey, this situation a touch input device that may be a better choice, such as a touch screen. Now in days I think that the best data input to make a telephone survey is the touch screen. A touch screen is a special kind of screen that is sensitive to touch, when you touch the screen, you can select different kind of menus on the screen just by touching, this kind of screen can be use on ATM’s or in all kind of business, specially where customers who are not used to keyboards can obtain information about the services offered or can give information by them self.
The Bank Checks, I think that the MICR (magnetic ink character recognition) is a better way to ensure that the checks are going to be checked and banks use this method. Numbers and characters found on the bottom of checks (usually containing the check number, sort number, and account number) are printed using Magnetic Ink. This device can scan checks quickly and ensures that checks are sent to the proper bank.
The majority of the Retail Tags of most stores now use a bar-code scanner for pricing. The bar code scanner recognizes a series of bars of different lengths and sends that code to the computer. Even small retail stores may have a handheld bar code scanner to make pricing and checkout more efficient.
