Christine de pizan was a writer. In 1398 her husband died and she was left to take care of her 3 children, a niece and her mother. After that, she had to learn to live differently and she became the first women in Europe to make a living off of writing. She became very well known and she began writing prose and poems to the court and in return they would send her money. Christine eventually started making more money, enough so she could pull herself out of debt and make a better life for her and her family.
