What is censorship? An encyclopedia defines censorship as "the control of what people may say or hear, write or read, or see or do." There are many reasons why people censor. Many governments or groups try to preserve their standards of morality by preventing people from learning about or following other standards. There should not be censorship. Authors deliberately create to express themselves through these things. In consequence of censorship, the public would not be able to receive the main idea of the product for which it was intended.
Censorship in general completely violates the first amendment of the constitution which is "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances", or to speak at a lower level, freedom of speech and expression. That it is why in my opinion there shouldn't be any type of censorship at all. People should have the choice weather they can or can't do or watch a certain thing.
There are also dangers associated with too much censorship in my opinion. If you censor too many things it reduced the freedom of what a person can and cannot do. He is restricted in only doing or not doing a certain act. On the other hand if he is given no censorship authors and people in general can express their emotions as to which people can relate to. They are given the choice to do what they want and can avoid if they dislike something.
The power of censorship should be in the hands of the people individually. Meaning that if a person doesn't like, lets say, a book he should just avoid it completely. In this way those people that do want to read it can still enjoy it without feeling as if they are doing something immoral. People in America especially should be allowed to express and read...
