Week 9 / GEN 105
You are at your graduation dinner. Your best friend or favorite relative
stands up and talks about your five most significant strengths that
contributed to your successful graduation from college. What do you
think they are?
I believe that if my best friend were to talk about five of my most significant strengths they would be: independent, self-motivated, disciplined, level headed, and well spoken. The first one, being independent, because I was only seventeen when I had my oldest daughter and never relied on the system to support her. I worked and still went to school at the same time. Because of determination, I was going to succeed. She would say self motivated because I do not need others to push me into doing what is best for me, or my family. If it needs to be done, it gets done with 100% of whatever it takes. Disciplined because I am able to stick to a routine or project without getting sidetracked. I work out regularly for my health. I do not need a partner or someone reminding me constantly of what I need to do. I feel level headed because I do not get heated in conversations if it is unnecessary. I try to look at all points of views before jumping to a conclusion, and I give most the benefit of the doubt. I know she would definitely say that I was well spoken. I take pride in being able to hold an educated conversation. If I do not know about a subject, then I either look it up so that I do know what the conversation is about, or I will ask questions. These are the five strengths I am sure my best friend would describe I have.
