Cam Newton

Cameron Jerrell Newton born May 11, 1989 is an American football quarterback for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Auburn Tigers and was drafted as the first overall pick by the Panthers in the 2011 NFL Draft. He is the third player to be awarded the Heisman Trophy, win a national championship, and be the first overall pick in the NFL draft all in the same one-year span, joining Leon Hart (1950), and Angelo Bertelli (1944) but is the only one to have won Rookie of the Year. Newton is the son of Cecil Newton, Sr., who was cut as a safety from the pre-season rosters of the 1983 Dallas Cowboys and 1984 Buffalo Bills, and he is the younger brother of Cecil Newton, Jr., a center who currently plays for the Baltimore Ravens. Newton was initially a member of the Florida Gators before transferring to Blinn College, where his team won a national junior college football championship. Newton was then recruited by head coach Gene Chizik of Auburn University and transferred once more. He became just the third player in major college football history to both rush and pass for 20 or more touchdowns in a single season. His performance earned him the Heisman Trophy as the most outstanding college football player, and he led Auburn to their second national championship in school history, despite controversy concerning his eligibility. In his NFL debut, Newton became the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to throw for 400 yards in his NFL regular-season opener, breaking Peyton Manning's rookie

Unlike King and many other civil rights leaders who were religious Southerners, from middle class and well-educated families, Huey P. During childhood, remarkable quick wit and strength earned him the respect of his peers and the reputation of being a tough guy (Seale 40). Upon his enrollment at Merrit College…

John David Crow won the Heisman in 1957, racking up 562 yards, 6 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Paul “Bear” Bryant commented before the Heisman ceremony, “ If John David Crow doesn’t win the Heisman they ought to stop giving it.” Johnny Manziel won the Heisman award in 2012. He broke the SEC record for total offense in a game with 557 yards and 4 touchdowns against Arkansas. The next week he broke his own SEC record with 576 yards and 6 touchdowns against number 23 Louisiana Tech. Four weeks later the aggies show up in Tuscaloosa to take on number 1 Alabama. In 2005 the world had been introduced to one of the best collegiate running backs to ever go through the University of Southern California. His name is Reggie Bush and he achieved one of the best personal awards any collegiate football player could want and that would be the Heisman award. Reggie bush played running back for USC in 2005, he was 6 foot tall and weighed 200 pounds, and he played tailback as a sophomore in college and played in 13 games. He was named “Pigskin club of Washington D.C offensive player of the year.” He was also named the2004 PAC-10 offensive player of the year, “Then He was named the 2005 Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive year (just the fifth player ever so honored and the first non-quarterback to do it in 20 years) and also made the All-Pac-10 first team as a tailback (the squad's only unanimous pick) and second team as a punt returner.” Nor do I need to mention that he won the 2005 Heisman trophy award by a landslide. Bush received 2,541 points and beat Young by a staggering 93 points. Everybody knows that bush deserves the Heisman trophy whether they want to admit to it or not Bush was the best.…

    Richard Stockton

Richard Stockton was born in Princeton, New Jersey on October 1, 1730 and died on February 28, 1781 at the age of 50 in Princeton, New Jersey. Stockton, a continental congressman, was an American lawyer, jurist, legislator, and a signer of the United States Declaration of Independence. Richard Stockton represented the New Jersey colony that was split evenly in the sense of sides during the revolutionary war. One-third supported the rebels and were patriots, one-third supported England and were loyalists and the other third remained neutral. New Jersey was an important state during the Revolutionary War because of its location near the center of the thirteen colonies and between New York City and Philadelphia. Because of this, more battles were fought in New Jersey than in any other state. The Americans and British fought 100 battles, both large and small, here. The tension between the Colonies and the mother country caused Stockton much concern, as shown in his letters and published writings. When the rupture drew near, he adopted the cause of the Colonies, at considerable sacrifice to himself, and separated himself from the Royal Council, all but two of who were Loyalists or neutral, and to who, as individuals, he was attached to. In 1774 he sent Lord Dartmouth "an expedient for the Settlement of the American Disputes", in which he proposed a plan of self-government for the Colonies; and applied an alert opposition to the British measures, until actual bloodshed began. Stockton was appointed by Congress, along with fellow signer George Clymer, to an exhausting two-month journey to Fort Ticonderoga, Saratoga and Albany, New York to assist the Continental Army in the American Revolutionary War. On his return to Princeton, he traveled 30 miles east to the home of a friend, John Covenhoven, to evacuate his family to safety, and away from the path of the British army. While there, on November 30, 1776, he and Covenhoven were captured in the middle…

The 2011 NFL season was a banner year for Tom Brady. Brady threw 39 touchdown passes against only 12 interceptions and threw for 5,235 yards (the second highest total in NFL history) with a 105.6 QB Rating. Brady also led a Patriots team that had the NFL’s the 31st ranked defense and no real running game to speak of to a 13-3 record and within minutes of another Super Bowl title. If it weren’t for Aaron Rodgers and his superhuman performance at Quarterback, Brady would’ve almost certainly been awarded his third MVP trophy in 5 years.…
