The first problem in this case is that while the technology aspect is moving in along at a rapid pace, the needs and processes are hitting road blocks that the companies seen ill equip to deal with. Technology is the skill of the companies involved, and the project is centered on that, but the problems interfacing Integra’s file systems were somehow not considered.
The second problematic issue in this case is the simple fact that they could not even GIVE this program away “even when we offered the system for free, not a single site offered to be a test site, not even these who had participation in the user group” (McNurlin & Sprague, 2006). This is a major issue, when not even the user group wants to take on the system for no cost.
The primary factors for problems that I see with this case are:
The heavy focus on the technical aspect and the disconcert, so to speak, of the functionality of the program and the people that would utilize it. “To avoid the possibility of intelligence leaks it was decided to deal with the implementation details at a later time (McNurlin & Sprague, 2006). While the technology is the project, and the development of such is imperativeto this endeavor, the implementation is equally important. After all, who is the software being marketed to, and who will buy it in the end? Honestly I would have suggested equality in the level of importance of both sides, a specializedteam for both sides and a clear leader that would both with the team and specialized with either the business or the technology. While the secrecy is a concern I am unsure that would place it at a higher value than the overall product, the product is what will sell in the end. With that being said I would have investigated and tested the implementation aspects of this project hand in hand with the technology side. Communication, it would seem that there are so many teams, but yet...
