Bush vs. outlook

Although we cannot always observe differences between the two, President Bush and
Senator Kerry have very different views on how to make America stronger and lead us into the
21st century. These similarities and differences are clearly demonstrated by their views on issues
such as education, health care, and national security. President Bush, with his conservative or
right wing view, and Senator Kerry, with his liberal or left wing views, give the citizens of the
United States two very different choices for President.

President Bush and Senator Kerry agree that education is the key to our country success
in the 21st century. Education is the core to all Americans achieving more in life by performing
to their up most potential. President Bush has already signed the “No Child Left Behind Act”
which holds every student in this country to high standards and every school accountable for the
results. He increased funding by 49% for elementary and secondary education for Fiscal Year
2005. The President plans to pass a new act requiring all 12th graders to pass a standardized test
to ensure they have the skills necessary for college or the jobmarket. In his 2005 budget, the
President increased funding for Pell Grants and increased the maxim amount per grant to $4,050.
Senator Kerry has a plan to create a National Education Trust Fund to ensure all schools get the
money they need. He also is a strong supporter of after school programs staying open until six
p.m. to give students extra help and to keep them out of trouble. If elected president, Kerry
plans to offer a fully refundable College Opportunity Tax credit of up to $4,000. per year and
give states aid to keep tuition down. Both candidates agree...
