Brett Favre
Research Paper (Brett Favre)
A Living Legend “Brett Favre is one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of professional football. You are judged by winning, and he’s won more games than any other quarterback who has ever played. But I will remember him just as well for being such a fierce competitor and outstanding leader. He was the face of the Packers and a great credit to our game. It was an honor to coach against him.”(Mike Shanahan, Denver Broncos Head Coach) Brett’s passion for the game, and winning history, together earned him the respect of the entire football nation. I am going to give you a summary of this incredible athlete’s life, covering both the ups and downs of his bumpy road to success. I am using factual information, personal opinions, as well as what some of the coaches and players Brett has been around have said about him. Brett has had nothing handed to him both on and off the field, making him who he is today, a living legend. Brett Favre was born in Gulfport Mississippi on October 10th, 1969. He grew up in the town of Kiln Mississippi, a town that did not have a single paved road or stop light. His father Irvin Favre and mother Bonita Favre raised to be the iron man he is today. His durability and ability to overcome injury started at an early age. Four year old Brett was standing on deck at his tee ball game, when he was struck in the head with a baseball bat. Brett had a big egg on his head and was quoted “If I cried, it was because I figured that’s what I was supposed to do. I used to cry when my old man would give me a whopping. It didn’t hurt, but I didn’t want to get another one. I would cry to fool people.” The thing about this incident was Brett didn’t cry. “The doctor said it hurt the woman who took him to the hospital more than it hurt Brett,” stated Irvin Favre. Brett stuck with baseball and earned five varsity letters, starting as an eighth grader. Brett was coached in both baseball and football

You do not have to be a sports fan to see that Aaron Rodgers, quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, is clearly superior to Mark Sanchez, quarterback for the New York Jets. The statistics, personal and professional tell the story. I will give some background on the two quarterbacks, to help you get to know their experience. According to “Aaron Rodgers” (2012), “Aaron Rodgers attended Pleasant Valley High School in Chico California, where he was starting quarterback for two years, graduating in 2012. He was recruited by Butte Community College in Oroville, and it was there he was discovered by California Golden Bears head coach, Jeff Tedford. Rodgers. Rodgers was staring quarterback for part of the 2003 season, and all of the 2004 season, but deciding to forego his senior season, he entered the 2005 draft” (“Aaron Rodgers, 2012). According to“Mark Sanchez” (2012), “Mark Sanchez attended Santa Margarita High School, transferring to Mission Viejo High School his junior year. Sanchez committed to University of Southern California, where he attended college after graduating high school in 2005 as the top high school quarterback in the nation. Sanchez was starting quarterback part of the 2007 season, and all of the 2008 season. He decided not to play his final year, and instead entered the 2009 NFL draft, although he did stay in school and finish work on his degree” (“Mark Sanchez”, 2012). Since you now know some of their background experience as quarterbacks, I want you to look at their similarities: age, physical size, and starting quarterback experience, so you can see that they started out on an equal footing. Then I want you to look at their differences: passing statistics and ratings under pressure, so then you can see that there is no question who comes out on top. In reading this…

While playing with the Rams, during a pre-season game, there was a missed snap where the center fumbled the ball. After that play was over one of the coaches started screaming at Kurt and blaming him for the fumble. During this time he took all of the heat and did not blame anyone else showing the coaches that he has what it takes to be a great quarterback while gaining the trust of his teammates and building the bond. When this tactic was displayed it was a very effective hard tactic in the point that his teammates knew that no matter what he would be there to back them, and no matter how hard anyone tried to change that it wasn’t going to…
