Organization Selection
Company Profile The organization that I have chosen to analyze the benefits plan is Delta Design. Delta Design is a Cohu Inc. organization. “Cohu is a leading supplier of test handling, burn-in and thermal solutions used by the global semiconductor industry, microwave communications and closed-circuit television equipment. In 1972, the name Cohu Electronics, Inc. was changed to Cohu, Inc.” (Cohu, 2008). Cohu Inc. is comprised of five major organizations. These organizations are Delta Design, Rasco, BMS, Ismeca, and Cohu Electronics. Cohu Inc. is headquartered in Poway CA. Delta Design has major offices located throughout the world including California, Philippines, and Singapore.

Benefits Program Delta Design has many different benefits included in their plan as you can see in the below table. These benefits are the standard for the semi-conductor manufacturing industry. There are a few issues with the way that the benefits are disbursed. One major issue that they have is that the Education Re-imbursement plan has too many unneeded levels.     Tuition reimbursement is one type of human capital investment which will help the business grow and expand. Compensation, including wage compensation and nonwage compensation, has been shown to have sizable effect on workers’ behavior (Manchester, 2010).     The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) provides cash benefits, material goods and commodities, expert services, positive discrimination, and credits/vouchers. Cash benefits are paid to “customer as a vendor” clients to reimburse them for expenses that would have otherwise been directly paid for by OVR, such as transportation to and from a training site. Material goods and commodities are provided to clients in the form of rehabilitation tools and tools needed in order to perform job duties like computers, software, adaptive tools and technology, mechanical tools, etc. Expert services are provided by Certified Rehabilitation Counselors who all possess no less than a Master’s Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation or a related field.
