What is a Belief System?
A belief system is a set of values and morals which guide your thoughts, words, and
actions, in-order that you may live your life with direction on the path you want to take in life
and to make sure it is the right path. This paper will address how beliefs make up a religious
belief system, how I acquired my religious belief system, the benefits and disadvantages of
having my particular belief system, the role of tradition in my religious belief system, the role of
tradition in religion in general, and finally the importance of being knowledgeable about other
peoples’ beliefs and attitudes toward religion.
How beliefs make up a religious belief system
The values and morals which guide an individual’s thoughts, words, and actions are all guided by different avenues which influence the individual’s own set of values and morals. From the beginning of an individual’s life an individual is introduced to a set of values and morals whether good or bad these values will make there mark on the individual. In a religious belief system the values are usually first through the parent and reinforced with outside influence. The parent begins with the values and morals that were handed down to him or her through their religious upbringing. By first being introduced to a specific religion that demands a certain level of commitment to time. The individual is then committed to a willingness to follow the specific religion. Finally, individuals are committed to obedience of the religious teachings.
How I acquired my religious belief system
There are several ways to obtain a religious belief system one way can be through education another would be through one’s environment and still another could be handed down through one’s parents.
