Introduction
Setting up a network isn’t nearly as hard as it once was. The most important aspect about a proper network is it, according to Amaro (2007) “works to reduce labor and increase income.” The mission of any business is to offer a useful product, increase profits, and increase work force potential. The ability to offer a product at a reasonable price, and increase the potential profit for that company comes with the need to synchronize the work force responsible for the product.
Synchronizing the assets of the Bead Bar will help to accomplish all of these goals. Workers will be able to communicate quickly, have access to a database, and share ideas for new products. Used effectively, a new network could reshape how Bead Bar does business, increase profits, and create a more desirable work environment.
Background
Bead Bar has approximately six studios, five franchises, and a special franchise set aside just for cruise ships. Currently, the Bead Bar uses 14 personal computers, two notebook computers, one handheld computer, and one extra computer. All of the personal computers came pre-installed with Windows XP for an operating system. Windows XP is a good choice for setting up networks as it already has a networking wizard already bundled within its software.
The Bead Bar has already chosen a relational database system, the Oracle9i. This system is very flexible, and much simpler to use compared to other database systems. The bead bar has also chosen to use a distributed database system, as they have multiple locations throughout the world. Using this system effectively, Bead Bar is able to store lots of information, and have quick access to any information that an individual, within the system, has access to.
Obtaining the right network, Bead Bar will have the ability to communicate in “real time” with all other members of its network. Also, updating and acquiring a good network will help Bead Bar...
