What do you know about steroids? It affects many people every day, it can cause serious long-term injury even death. Today, individuals abuse anabolic steroids to enhance performance and also to improve physical appearance. Anabolic-androgenic steroids are man-made substances related to male sex hormones. “Anabolic” refers to muscle building, and “androgenic” refers to increased masculine characteristics. Steroids are only available by prescription or on the Black market. They can also be available through the mail from a foreign country. The most common use of steroids today are used by athletes who are looking for that edge over the competition.
Baseball has become known for the excessive amount of steroids throughout the players. Is this fair to the players of the past or to the ones who honestly don’t take the drug. Back when baseball was just a sport and it was played for, “the love of the game”, steroids were never an issue. These were the days of baseball heroes such as Babe Ruth and Mickey mantle. Steroids have just recently become a real time issue in the sport. The players of today are far more physically advanced than the players of the past. Records that were said could never be broken are being broken by players who obviously seem to be taking anabolic steroids. Jealousy, delusions, and impaired judgment due to the feelings of feeling invincible are reported in steroid use. Many researchers believe strongly that anabolic steroids can lead to other drugs. Long-term symptoms of steroids can be things such as liver cancer, heart attacks, strokes, and many times can cause someone to be often injured.
Trainers all throughout baseball have seen more injuries in the past year than they have seen in any other year. Is this because of the popular use of steroids.
