Religious studies are a very popular and fashionable discipline nowadays. People choose to study religion because it expresses the deepest questions one can ask and because it is a central place of all cultures. Another reason for studying religion is to be able to understand believes and rituals that move other people to discover religious reality, to get access to mystery of other. This discipline allows as well to appreciate the diversity within this religious reality. Many people choose this subject because they are after deeper understanding of vital questons of identity, community, selfhood, social transformations or simply they want to understand the influence of religion on the world of arts. There are lots of religious motives and symbols in music, literature, drama, and art. Knowing their meaning makes the interpretation of the piece of art easier and reacher.
