PREREQUISITES: Management Principles and Practices, Marketing Principles,
Managerial Finance & a minimum of 90 earned credits.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This advanced course uses the case study approach to develop systems and techniques for analyzing the internal strengths and weaknesses of diverse organizations and the external environments in which they operate. Students craft strategies and develop implementation plans that apply organizational resources to opportunities and threats in its external environment. This course should be taken near the end of a student’s program.
OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this course you will have had an opportunity to achieve each of the following general course objectives;
1. integrate the knowledge and skills gained from other courses in your business program,
2. develop a framework for examining and developing a strategic management
process,
3. examine and apply concepts related to the strategic role of the general
manager,
4. advance your understanding of the strategic decision making process,
5. acquire and apply the knowledge related to the theory, concepts, tools, and
models associated with strategic management,
6. expand and polish your presentation skills,
7. strengthen your ability to plan and work in management groups,
8. heighten your awareness and understanding of strategic business issues, and
9. enrich your sense of business judgment.
