1. Why does Kwame Appiah think that we should start individuals but not nations as the proper object of moral concern?

Kwame Appiah thinks that we should start taking individuals as the proper object of concern because it is not a group of people that shapes society, but each individual that makes that group. Individuals have free will, freedom of thought, and freedom of expression. One person can have an idea that can give other people ideas. Many people say that one person does not matter, but

Different people require different living arrangements for their own growth. If they are not allowed this option of growing mentally and spiritually, they won’t be allowed to be happy or reach their full potential. Diversity needs to happen by letting people start their lives how they please, not by keeping them in a place or state of mind they want to leave.

4. Why does Appiah think that evidence does not support the purported harms of "cultural imperialism"?

Appiah thinks that the evidence does not support the harms of “cultural imperialism” because researchers have gone out to take the reactions of many individuals to a television show called “Dallas.” They have also gotten opinions in Australia, Brazil and other countries, and looked at the artist Sophiatown among other things. In this experiment what these researchers actually found was that the response these people had to the show was actually persuaded by their current cultural perspective.

5. Does Amartya Sen think that globalization is a new Western

It depends om the region or group that is being viewed and what constitutes as rich or poor in the chosen economic system. Others believe that the poor are actually getting richer, but that is not necessarily true either. But globalization is not only needed by the poor, but it is also important they get what they need. It is important to note that they don’t necessarily get their fair share. There is an inequality present that does not allow the poor to get what they deserve.

8. Are the benefits of global economic interrelationships shared equally?

The benefits of global economic interrelationships are not shared equally. Before gender equality it was said that a family setting was fair for a women and if it wasn’t they were not forced to stay. They also said that both women and men benefited from this the arrangement was fair for both parties. Several conditions would be found to be just in comparison to not having a family, but the economic fairness still remains a question.

9. What does Sen mean when he writes that the central question is not whether to use the market

This idea relates to his criticism of moral relativism. It is expected for principles like toleration, individualism, and benevolence to be of universal acceptance as the basics of a civilize organization, yet it 's 2015 and we still see countries killing one another for religious believes or being underappreciated for their sex or race.A proverb from Ghana Appiah 's home town renders: "In a single political order there is no wisdom ' ' (Kuro koro mu mni nyansa.) In this world, there are so many different cultures and ethicnicities that it is impossible for us to decide what the correct way of living actually is. Another great example Appiah gives us on how society has changed in the last twenty years, look at the ideals behind gay marriage. Not too long ago Homosexuality was always kept hidden from everyone as it was viewed wrong. Now it is legal in most states to the point where they can actually get married. It 's a fact that as people become more confident about themselves it becomes more acceptable the more time passes by. When a person opens they 're mind towards the views of another they will come to peace in mind, as there is no right or wrong answer to any believe or tradition. Religion is a gate for us to feel at peace mentally and spiritually. Is a beautiful thing rich in faith and values, but with so many different believes all over the world no matter what our believes are it is crucial for us to love and accept one another. In the end, were humans and all the same inside and…

David Appiah grew up comfortably with his three brothers under the watchful eye of his mother, a nurse. She taught her sons the value of charity and personal sacrifice. A lesson David can’t seem to lose sight of. David’s education took him on a criss cross course of the country up till after his tertiary education. After seeing most of Ghana, David pitched camp in the UK as he sought to broaden his mind. He soon realized that people need help everywhere; he saw images of pain and suffering that made him return home with a dream, a vision to make a difference.…

The value of the individual is squandered by the antagonist authority figures in both Anthem and The Island. By showing the disastrous results of doing as such, they demonstrate how important it is to promote the individual. For example, in Anthem, the government discourages individual thoughts, which are often the fuel for progress. The government believes that “We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, One, indivisible, and forever” (Rand 19). Individual innovation is the driver of progress, and, when inhibited, new ideas become lost. This is shown by the Council of Elders saying that “What is not thought by all men cannot be true… What is not done collectively cannot be good” (73), thus shooting down Equality’s innovation.…
