Story
Deana Designer’s manager asked her to create a Web site for their department. Excited, Deana started right away. She used Internet search engines and the Uniform Resource Locator for the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web site to find information about creating Web pages and Web page design. "The Internet is such a wonderful source of information!" Deana thought.

Based on her research, Deana knew planning the site was the first step. Planning included conceptualizing the overall site design and layout of each page. Deana decided she would need a home page and several other pages to display information about the department. She wanted to create a consistent look and feel, and a navigation system that allows users to easily find their way around the site.

Next, Deana built a set of directories on her computer in which to organize the files she would create and use. Then, Deana drafted the home page in Adobe® Dreamweaver®, a Web design technology that uses Hypertext Markup Language and JavaScript code. To the home page, Deana added Adobe® Flash® animation, descriptive text about the department, and images she took with her digital camera and optimized in Adobe® Photoshop® Elements. She previewed the Web page to see the result; Deana loved how effective the process of rendering was when she saw the home page displayed in a Web browser, and how the browser maintained the page resolution.
