Animal Testing

1) After reading different websites about mice and rats, I have discovered new and interesting facts on the lives of rats and mice. I was never aware of the intelligence that mice and rats really have. I know that they are not as smart as humans, but they do have senses and they do have an understanding of what is going on to not only them, but the things around them. I have never really thought that the treatment to rats and mice was that bad because I thought that they didn’t really have the capacity to feel or understand what was being done. After reading these articles I can clearly see that these animals suffer with pain to be tested on products that can be tested on machines or other non-living beings. I read that mice and rats can bond with humans after interacting with them. This shows the deep feelings that mice and rats can feel and that they have similarities to humans. This has changed my thoughts on mice and rats. I now view them as actual beings, not objects to be tested on. They do seem worthy of being defended against animal testing. I feel this way because I now have an understanding of mice and rats and can see that they have senses and feelings. They can communicate to other rats and mice. This shows that they have brains and therefore can feel the pain they have to go through to be tested on products that can be tested with objects not sentient beings.
