Draft – Speech(English)
Issue: Animal Abuse
Animal abuse is the infliction of suffering or harm upon non human animals for a specific gain, such as killing animals for food or for their fur. * Just like how a coin has 2 sides to be looked at, this issue has 2 sides to be viewed about as well * Animal abuse is inherently wrong for using them for human purposes but should be fine if the unnecessary pain and suffering is lessened * Another is that the only way to put animal abuse to an end is to regard animals as properties and not commodities * Cruelty to animals is a big no no due to myriad of reasons. Animal abusers can come in all walks of life, and sometimes the abuse isn't as noticeable as pet owners who beat their pets. * Let’s review the status quo of such abuse cases in today’s world and see what are the possible solutions we can contribute to alleviate the problem | Reasons for the issue | * People don’t view animals as important, so they think it’s all right to hurt them * It’s a highly controversial topic among people * People don’t realize how serious the problem is as statistics of abuse cases for animals is escalating * According to the SPCA website(statistics) * The SPCA, in Singapore, receive 80 to 90 cruelty reports on average per month * 13% of animal abuse involves domestic violence. * 70% of animal abusers also have records of other crimes. * According to the NewsLink research website(statistics) * 3 to 4 million cats and dogs (young, healthy and adoptable) are euthanized every year in shelters. * Animals that aren't euthanized are often sent to no-kill shelters where the animals are caged for days, weeks, months or years and the animals risk becoming insane and dying of loneliness. * Millions of day-old

Jeremy Rifkin 's article, “A Change of Heart About Animals” argues that animals are more like humans than we imagine and as a result should be treated with the care that they deserve. Rifkin develops and supports his argument using facts about the animals and these facts end up touching hearts. In order for Rifkin to get his point across he uses a smart technique by using pathos and plays with the emotions of his audience. Rifkin loves animals and his passion and love evokes emotions that the audience can feel. Animals can feel and have emotions similar to ours. in agreement with Rifkin, I argue that it is wrong and inhumane to kill or abuse animals because they feel, they deserve to have space and should be valued as much as humans are It is wrong no animal should be killed due to abuse or testing, it is wrong and inhumane.…

Animal cruelty can either be deliberate abuse or simply the failure to take care of an animal. It really doesn’t matter what type of animal it may be it can be a farm animal, a pet, or even a wildlife animal. Any of these victims can suffer terribly. A person that has emotional problems may choose to beat, shoot, or stab the animal, or even set them on fire. When an animal is neglected they may not be given food, water, or shelter, and vet care. It our society it is very important to give the proper care to an animal if the animal isn’t well taken care of it will suffer consequences or even may die. The first time I heard about the topic “Animal Abuse” come up was really sad. PETA came to one of the livestock shows and were trying to tell us what we were doing wrong, but in reality we were treating the animals with love and respect. I have participated in all of these events and have seen how the animals get treated. I believe there is nothing wrong with the way they get treated. Most animals actually get treated better than some humans do. There are many society practices that people believe are cruel to animals but are not. Rodeos, showing livestock, and factory farms do not show animal cruelty.…

I am so sick of hearing cases on the news, like "Man from Atlanta is facing penalties in Georgia in which a puppy was cooked in an oven" or "Brothers in Atlanta are being charged for putting a puppy in a gas range and turning the gas on." Animal cruelty is one of the most common types of violence in the United States. It is not as accustomed to hear such heartbreaking cases as these. Some of the most common forms of animal cruelty are: Animal testing and experimentation in laboratories, lack of owners care and attention, and using animals as a way of entertainment. Now, lets take a closer look at these three forms of animal cruelty.…

Animal abuse is a topic that most people are aware of in this day and age. But to clarify this is not going to be a speech appealing to the pity of Sarah McLachlan's song during animal cruelty commercials. Believe me this topic is truly sad, but its gets worse when you look into the current problems. I will elaborate on what is currently being done. The SPCA is a very large benefactor in stopping animal abuse as many of you probably know by their numerous commercials asking for donations and public awareness but they cannot take this entire burden on their shoulders alone. The type of animal abuse I would like talk about is specific to farm animals. This is a particular topic that many people do not consider. The example i am going to use first is the life of a cow and then elaborate on chickens. A female cow on a dairy farm is repetitively impregnated, again, and again for the production of milk. Hundreds of cows residing on thousands of dairy farms across america are artificially inseminated to constantly produce milk for our consumption. After a time of nine months the cow gives birth to a calf, within hours or a day the calf is taken from the mom and transported to a veal…

In the Victorian Era one of the only types of animal cruelty was beating your animal to be mean or to make it behave. But in the present day more people have started hoarding animals. “Animal hoarding occurs when an individual is housing more animals than he or she can adequately care for. It is a complex issue that encompasses mental health, animal welfare and public safety concerns. Animal hoarding is defined by an inability to provide even minimal standards of nutrition, sanitation, shelter and veterinary care—often resulting in animal starvation, illness and death”(ASPCA,2017).Hoarding can be worse for the animals involved than being beaten. “Every year in the United States, a quarter of a million animals fall victim to hoarding. Animals collected range from cats and dogs to reptiles, rodents, birds, exotics and even farm animals. Animal hoarding is covered implicitly under every state’s animal cruelty statute, which typically requires caretakers to provide sufficient food, water and veterinary care”(ASPCA,2017). Also most hoarders do not have their animal spayed or neutered, which allows the animals to slowly multiply and become even harder to take care of. Also “In the majority of cases, animal hoarders believe they are helping their animals and deny this inability to provide minimum care” “In the majority of cases, animal hoarders believe they are helping their animals and deny this inability to provide minimum care” (ASPCA, 2017). On top of hoarding in the present day organizations have been founded to stop animal cruelty like the ASPCA. “The ASPCA’s efforts to protect animals span from federal laws to local courts to community engagement. We’re helping to prevent harmful situations for animals and to take action when they occur”(ASPCA,2017). These organizations did not exist in the Victorian Era when people did not think mistreating animals was…

Animal abuse is when someone inflicts pain or harm upon an animal such as not giving them their basic needs (food and water) to beating them. In between 5 and 7 million animal companions enter an animal shelter nationwide, every year (www.aspca.org), and within 50 miles of Hayward, CA, there are 170 animal cruelty cases reported (www.pet-abuse.com). Imagine what these innocent beings that cannot speak out to let the human know they are in pain feel. Animals need us to speak out and help reduce their suffering instead of making their lives worse. Animal safety needs to be improved by creating more laws to protect animals from harm. Animal cruelty is shaped by two forms of abuse, different types of animal abuse, opinions on how animal cruelty happens, organizations that help fight for animal rights, and ways to report it.…

Hurt. Lonely. Abused, Unwanted. Those are some of the reasons we have an animal shelter is for the unwanted or abused animals in or near our county. Our animal shelter is running low on food, supplies and money that they need to take care of the animals, they are asking for donations to help them care for the animals. The reason you should help the animals and donate to the shelter is because one you could be giving a little kid a new best friend, two you could be saving the lives of many animals, three the shelter wont have to look for other shelters to relocate the animals.…

Animal cruelty is wrong I don’t know how or why people do it, there innocent animals, they are a life they have feelings like us they feel pain, it’s cruel on so many levels. They cannot scream out in pain or talk to anyone to help them. Just because animals can't talk that doesn't mean that they don't have things to say, and it surely doesn't mean that they don’t have feelings. I also believe that animals deserve to live according to their own natures, without harm, abuse. Animal Neglect and abandonment are the most common forms of animal cruelty found in the United States. During recent history, there have been many occurrences of natural disasters throughout various parts of the United States. In this time of panic, there are many innocent victims that are caught in the middle of these disasters. Amongst those victims there are none more innocent than the animals and the pets. During the hurricane Katrina disaster, hundreds and thousands of animals were either killed or abandoned in New Orleans. To prevent future disasters or massacres from occurring, the United States Government should establish an evacuation plan that includes pets and animals. In other countries around the world these acts would fall under animal cruelty. "In Britain, the Protection of Animals Act of 1911 makes it…

I choose this topic because animals really fascinate me. Since I was kid, I always had a pet dog. Her name is Lolita and I would break down if anything happened to that innocent puppy. I think animals are a treasure to this world. They help us understand each other. They may not be able to reason like us but that doesn’t mean they don’t feel anything. They feel pain, fear, sadness, happiness. They are animals, we are animals. We may look different but we should all take care of each other ,we were all made from the same earth.…
