Laugh, live, Smile.. today.. for who knows there may or may not be a tomorrow

Around some eighteen years ago, a miracle happened and a guy was born, yes u guessed it right, that guy was me. I was born in a town called Kanpur. Kanpur is my maternal place. I have lived most the summer vacations during my childhood over there. Since my father has a transferable job, I got to live in various cities, explore different culture and make tons of friends. I started my schooling from a school called National Convent School, Mirzapur.I did my LKG and UKG over there. Then I along with my mom, shifted to my Aunt’s place in Haridwar. She used to treat me like her own son. She was the one who recognized the hidden talent of singing in me. She sent me for the formal training in vocal music to a music teacher whom I consider my guru. I have always been a lazy lad, to overcome my laziness, she then sent me to the Taekwondo sessions in the evening. She is a lady of values & virtues. Discipline is in her blood. I have learned a lot from her. As she was an extensive traveler, I got to travel & explore the hilly regions of Uttarakhand.
After the two amazing years in Haridwar,I along with my mom shifted to Kanpur and we started living with my grandparents. I took admission in DPS Kanpur and my mother was a teacher in another school. An year passed and I got promoted in fifth standard. Now here comes an interesting phase of my life.It was during the starting of the new session,I still remember the sequence.I was sitting forward in the extreme left row and then came a girl whom I had never seen, she came inside the class and went towards my parallel row and sat at the back bench. Now she bacame the first crush of my life, officially! Her name was Samya.”When she was around,I could just feel myself blush, the adrenaline in my blood was such a rush”! As time passed, our relationship changed from just friends into best friends.
Even though, I was the most notorious element of the class,

My father’s parents were born in a small village in the Peloponnese. They were kind and humble people that eventually made their way to Athens. My mother’s parents were born in Kafkaso, a town in Minor Asia, which at that time belonged to Greece. With the war of 1921, the Turks forced my mother’s parents to flee to Athens. They were wealthy and proud, as were many Pontian Greeks at that time. Both of my parents were born in Athens in the fifties. My mother left Athens in 1969, America bound and my father followed soon after.…

Some of the earliest reading memories I have come from reading flashcards with basic words on them, reading closed captions on cartoons (something I still utilize to this day,) and being read to by my mother and preschool teachers. A memory I remember in vivid detail (which is one of my earliest memories) is sitting in the lap of one of the preschool assistants (Jan) as she was reading to me. I do not remember what book it was, however, I do remember I was wearing a sweatshirt and my pink snowboots. I have a picture of this in a preschool scrapbook. Another one of my early reading memories is watching Timon and Pumbaa and singing along to the theme song as I read the closed captions. My mother came in when she heard me singing the word “philosophy” and I gave her a look that said “What is that face for?”…

When I first saw in the syllabus the type of paper we would be writing for this course I thought about what culture means to me. What was the culture of my family? Where did we come from? How did we end up in Virginia? How did we end up believing some of the things we believe? To me culture was basically how I was raised—my behaviors, beliefs, values, and ideas cultivated during my youth and its evolvement as I grew into an adult. This truly was to be a very interesting and involved quest for information. Though I attempted to use websites such as www.genealogy.com and www.ancestry.com, I found most of the information from a couple of the adults in my family. Adults? I, too, am an adult, but in my family, age comes before everything; and because I am younger, I am treated as such and am expected to behave a certain manner towards the elders in my family. So begins the learning of the nature of my familial circle!…

    A blessing in disguise

I believe that all things happen for a reason, and that difficulties happen so that one can appreciate the good things that one has. When I was thirteen, my parents made the decision to transfer me to my hometown school because it had a good quality of education. I took two days travel there by train, bus, boat, 2000 kilometers far away from my city in another province. I was very sad and disappointed with this big change in my life. I missed my city, home and friends. In this small ancient town, people still got their drinking water from the well, washed their clothes in the river, and had very limited electricity. The town house that I lived with my aunt’s family was very wet and cold in winter. Furthermore, on the school entry test, I ranked at the bottom ten of sixty students, although I had ranked tenth in my previous class in the city. These changes made me feel lonely, frustrated and discouraged. However, after I saw my classmates having not enough food or clothing, and walking more than seven kilometers from other villages to school every day, I realized that comparing with them, I was much better. Gradually I was affected and inspired by their spirit. They were optimistic, diligent and not afraid of difficulties. I started calming down and putting all my efforts into my studies. Every day, I got up at 5:30 in the morning to recite English words and literature. At night, after finishing homework, I studied till after midnight. When electricity was off, I would continue studying with a candle. Under that hard circumstance, I made a great improvement in all my subjects. After two years, I ranked third in my class. When at last, I returned to my city for the High School Entrance Examination, I became very successfully enrolled in a high ranking high school in my city. I firmly believe that those two years’ experience were a blessing in disguise because it entirely changed me. I became independent and strong, and learned to have an…

My friend, Mei, is my classmate in high school. When we just entered the high school, there was a gathering to make all students known to each other. She left me a great impression at that time. We sat in a circle on grass ground, and she was just next to me. She has round face, big eyes and smooth skin. And she dressed in a white T-shirt and jeans. She looked so beautiful that I was a little afraid to talk with her.And I also thought that she would not be willing to talk with me, since Icome from poor countryside wearing old-fashioned clothes. However, to my surprise, she greeted me first with big smile. She asked me where I come from, how I felt about the new school, and so on. She even invited me to her home on summer vacation. She said her mother was a great cook, and she wanted me to have a try someday if I had time. She was so funny, and she liked to make a face when she talked with me. It also made me feel that she had been my friend for many years.…

Life is the summation of many single moments. Some moments give happiness, some give sadness and some moments give us such a glory that we want to recall those moments whenever we get some times. I can yet remember the day when such a glorious moment came to my life. That time I was in seven standards. I was learning painting as it was my passion. One day, I got to know from our art teacher that ‘Standard Chartered Bank’ was going to organize an art competition all around the country. Our teacher encouraged us and emphasized on our participation in the competition. I was so much excited as I got an opportunity to show my talent. According to the competition’s requirement I made three paintings on the given topic ‘Your Dream House’ and submitted that at the scheduled date. Though I knew that the result would be published one month later, I kept looking for the result online everyday. Finally the day of publishing the result came and I went to the bank to know the result. But from there I got to know that the result had already been published and the winners had got the confirmation letters. I got tensed as I didn’t get such kind of letters and couldn’t accept the fact. I went back home with nothing. Next morning I got a letter above which my name was written. The letter was from the bank. Shivering extremely I opened the letter. In the letter it was written that best 25 painters had been chosen and among them I stood 5th. I couldn’t believe my eyes. My happiness knew no bounds. My mom was so happy that she couldn’t control her tears. That was the most glorious moment of my life which gave me an immense…

Omg okay so we got our results today! 7A's for meeeeeee yayyy!! So our school had 65 straight A's this year, more compared to last years. All in all, pengetua said she's pretty satisfied with our results. 4th in malacca, if you ask me, I'd say it's way more than what we anticipated. So we were all in school by 10 and pengetua came at 11. As soon as she came, everyone started shouting and screaming with joy idk why. And she walked in like a bride to be, gave her speech, and announced the results. Well actually Cikgu Zainal was announcing the names, and she was shaking our hands while handing us the result slips. The pressure in that hall was intense. After everyone got their results, we had a photo session where all of us were pretty much squeezed since there were just too many people. Then another photo session for a Chinese newspaper in pengetua's office. First time I stepped into her room hehe. That's pretty much it. Oh and I snapped a pic with Cikgu Zainal and mummy Aizal too. Solo ones FINALLY YESSSS!! I was kinda emotional with mummy. I went to her to get my booklist and first thing she said was congratulations. We shook hands and I automatically hugged her. I had no intention of hugging her, but idk why my body just hugged her without the knowledge of my brain. I have no regrets though. Cos she is and always will be my school mum. I think mostly everyone from 3M took a photo with her, but according to me, she's only this close (our faces were really touching) in my picture. And for the first time ever, it's not me who barged at her. Really gonna miss her next year. Anyway that's about it for results. Thanks to everyone. It wild have been impossible without all of you.…

From there he notied that the river thames was flowing by downward. The great city of London was bathed in the morning shun. The poet was so charmed that it seemed to him the lovliest sight. The city seemed to wear a new garment of the beauty of the morning. If any person vemained indifferent to such an impressive sight, he must be unfeeling, after the poet. Everything in the city was silent and clearly visible. A deep calm prevailed all around. Ships, towers, domes, theatres aqnd churches lost themselves in the openness of the distant horizon between yhe fields and the sky. As air was smokeless, every object on which the rays of the morning sun fell, looked bright and glittering. The poet thought that he had never exparienead such a unique beauty and calmness of the city. Them the river Thames was still flowing with a soft murmur. The houses in the city appeared to be asleep. The poet felt that the mighty heart of London was still lying in slumber. Out of gratitude he prayed to God for His benign gift.…

The most memorable and happiest occasion of my life is the day of my H.S.C. (Higher Secondary School Certificate) result. The day was August 26, 2011. From the very beginning of that day I was very nervous and excited about my result. My parents, my brother and all other family members were also very excited about my result. As I was very nervous I prayed a lot on that day. I want to get my result to my college with my mom and my brother. I was registered to the website of Bangladesh Education Board to get my result earlier. When we all were waiting for our result in front of our auditorium I got a text message from the education board and it was my result and I got GPA 5.00 which is the highest grade of secondary level. As I had not seen my result directly I could not believe that, so I was waiting for the publication of result from our college. About 2 o’clock we all got our result. I was very happy and speechless. I ran to my mom to inform her about my brilliant success in H.S.C. exam. She was very happy to hear that. Then she informed all of our near and dear family members about my result. Everyone congratulated me. Many of my close friends also got GPA 5.00. We all celebrated the day and enjoyed a lot. It was a happy occasion to me but not for one of my dearest friend who did not get GPA 5.00. He was very upset. I consoled him and also supported him. When I went home everyone welcomed me warmly and celebrated the day. It was a nice get together. I will never forget the…

Both of us got berths reserved in the Jammu Mail much in advance to avoid frustration. Reaching Jammu we got into a bus for Srinangar. We hired a shikara for our stay there.
