According to an English short-story writer, poet, and novelist who won a Nobel Prize in 1907, Rudyard Kipling, “No printed word, nor spoken plea can teach young minds what they should be. Not all the books on all the shelves – but what the teachers are themselves.”
From the first time I entered school, I was afraid of facing the whole world and the changes it will bring to me, but with my mother’s help, which is my first teacher, I learned to overcome the uneasy feeling and I start to enjoy what life is in store for me. I learned to become independent and trust other people from the time I entered school. My teacher in school helped me to achieve my goals by developing my potentials, and believing in myself. I was always amazed by how teachers handle so many students and at the same time deliver their lesson effectively. As I grew up, I learned to appreciate the teaching as profession, but it actually made me think that it is beyond a profession, it is a vocation where you are willing to give your best to enhance the capabilities of your students and help them in whatever way you can. Teachers become the soul of what we will be in the future. We spent huge part of our day inside the classroom to learn our lessons and they are the only person who gives us the appropriate attention we need when we needed it. Besides from our family, they are the ones outside our family we trust our life with. My teacher helped me to believe in myself and that I can be what I want to be if I am determined.
For years, teachers play a big part in educating the students. Students’ role on the other hand is to listen, learn and to linkup. As time revolutionizes, the desires for achievement of students also changes and so are the teachers.
