Man has come an extremely long way from during his journey from Neanderthal to Homo sapiens. The nineties saw a significant turn around, when they invented the computers. Until, some few years back, the word internet was anonymous to many people. However, today the internet has evolved into the powerful communication equipment for individuals around the world. The internet is a collection of various resources and services (Buchanan, 2002). Today, the internet has brought the whole world into a single room. It has immense potential and many things to offer in terms of services. However, like everything existing in this world, the internet has some advantages and disadvantages. The aim of this paper is to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the internet.
Among some of the advantages of the internet, is its ability to facilitate faster communication. The prime target of the internet is speedy communication (Pakhare, 2011). Innovations are going to make it more reliable and faster. Now, anyone can communicate with a person on the other side of the world within a fraction of a second. For more interactive and personal communication, the internet has availed the services of video conferencing and chatting. The information that a person can access in the internet is probably one of the greatest advantages of the internet. The search engines such as Google and Yahoo can help a person access any information under the sun. The internet also acts as a source of entertainment. Surfing the celebrity websites or downloading games are some of the entertainment uses of the internet. The other advantage is the availability of social networking. Social networking is so popular among the youth since it offers a medium to connect with vast numbers of individuals with similar interests. Finally, the ability of the internet to offer online services such and its e-commerce concept; it has reduced the hassles in life.

Information spreading. The Internet makes it possible for anyone to quickly, easily and inexpensively post and disseminate information and make this information available to a large audience. In this way, the Internet promotes freedom of speech by enhancing the ability of individuals to voice opinions and inform and influence others, which can be considered a great benefit. 3. Communication. The Internet facilitates one-to-one, one-to-many and manytomany communication and enables users to communicate easily and inexpensively with a wide variety of individuals across the globe. Communication goes beyond the dissemination of information: it is a two-way process that allows for the expression of viewpoints, the creation of intimacy, and the coordination of actions.
