Abortion

Abortion has been an extremely controversial battle since the beginnings of the 20th century. Many believe that it is the right of a woman to choose how she handles her pregnancy and others strongly oppose this and are convinced that it is morally wrong and should not be allowed to do so. For many years now activist groups and the government have been involved to try to find a point of appeasement for this conflict and have created certain guidelines. Whether pro choice or pro life, both sides have strong supporting points that wave their opinions and views, such as religion. However that does not apply for every woman and their situation. Abortion should be a choice one decides to take and should not become banned by any law as it could impact not only the individual, but society as well in a more negative than positive way.
By definition, abortion is defined two ways; the expulsion of a fetus or embryo by voluntary or spontaneous action. (Dictionary.com/Abortion). But more often than anything, abortion is thought to be the removal of the embryo or fetus by choice not by fait. With this said, it gives abortion a negative reputation portraying those who favor the procedure as inhumane and irresponsible in the eyes of many. But for those who choose to go through with it, various surgical procedures are available. The woman can terminate her pregnancy depending on how old the fetus or embryo is. (Rosen, Jeffrey). Methotrexate & Misoprostol (MTX) is given orally or by injection during the first office visit which will help expel the fetus naturally and Suction Aspiration which is a long plastic tube connected to a suction device which is inserted into the uterus to suction out the fetus and placenta. These are the two most common methods performed during either the first or second trimester of a pregnancy (Americapregnancyassociation.org).
