Abortion; a women’s way of killing her unborn child, or is it a women’s way for saving herself for a life she wasn’t ready for? Which is it? In truth, there is no definition to directly define abortion due to the constant battle about the topic. Though, why is this topic so controversial? It could be because some people would call abortion murder while others may not. Personally, abortion is a word with little meaning. The reason is due to the fact that abortion is a choice woman makes, regardless of whether or not someone disagrees or agrees with it. It should be the woman’s choice and hers alone to decide. This then leads to the question to why people would want to make abortion illegal when it is able to help so many out. There is a large sum of women that who becomes pregnant unintentionally due to accidents such as when a birth control pill is not working, or if a condom breaks during intercourse. Some were even forced to have sex and become pregnant unwillingly due to events such as rape. Should these people have to suffer a fate they never intended? Frankly, abortion should be legalized, giving women that option when there is absolutely no choice left, or else if it becomes illegal, some women might go to the extreme, which could prove to be fatal.
Regardless of whether abortion is illegal, many women will find ways to have an abortion even if it could endanger their health, or worst, it could even cost them their life. Statistics state that “in the two decades before abortion was legal in the U.S., it's been estimated that nearly a million women per year sought out illegal abortions. Thousands died. Tens of thousands were mutilated. All were forced to behave as if they were criminals” (www.plannedparenthood.org).
