Hello everybody, we’re going to talk about aboriginals today.
Australian Aboriginals migrated from somewhere in Asia at least 30,000 years ago. They have strong spiritual beliefs that tie them to the land; a tribal culture of storytelling and art; and, like other indigenous populations, a difficult colonial history.Aboriginals believe that everything that you find in nature can be used for something. They use wood to make fires and the bones of dead animals as clubs.
The word aboriginal comes from latin: ab origine. This means from the beginning, so they were the original population of Australia. The aboriginals are a very primitive people. It’s very clear why they are this primitive. They believe that their ancestors made the earth, it would be an insult to ruin the world with machines, cars and factories.
that’s why their motto is: I don’t own the land, the land owns me.
the aboriginals were hunters and nomads, so they were used to running long distances.
they didn’t know bows and arrows, but but they used the boomerang and spears to hunt.
The aboriginals also have a lot of beautiful art. They made paint from charcoal and clay mixed with water. They painted on rock, boomerangs, didgeridoo’s and on their own bodies. Dot painting ( the painting with dots) is a traditional technique of the aboriginals. Originally painted on rocks and trees, but these days used by modern artists, and painted on canvas. Dot painting was originally used for storytelling.
The aboriginals know a lot of their ancestors because the stories passed from generation to generation. They believe that their ancestors made the earth, so they don’t believe that some kind of god made the earth.
