2008 Presidential Election

This year’s presidential election is something new and never before seen. Some ask why. It is simply because for the first time in history, there is an African American man and a woman running for the democratic position in the final ballot. The winner of this election however, may not just win because of their political views or their plans for the future, but by their identity. Identity refers to the people voting for is that people want to see history be made or just vote for a person by how they look. That’s what brings up the question, do voters vote based on identity or by the candidate’s solutions? I believe that people do in fact, vote by identity.
Identity it self effects people. They reason for voting for is a reason that can prove my point. When people say why the say, “I am going to vote for him because he’s black,” or they say “I am going to vote for her because she is a women.” (These quotes were said by real people but I can not say who). Many people jus vote by identity that’s why the right candidate might not win. Another key point is that identity can make you vote for the wrong candidate, maybe the candidate you choose by identity, has bad plans and it could badly affect your family, but the other candidate has plans that can help your family. That is why identity is not the right way to choose.
Publicity also makes people choose identity. It makes people choose by identity by on headline on newspapers showing “Who will the black women vote for?” That shows how people become persuaded to vote by identity. Also news stations show clips of women saying they will vote for Hilary Clinton. Males saying that they would never vote for a woman most said because she’s a woman. That how publicity effects people.
Sexists and racists do affect voting, and in this years race they will affect it a whole lot, because some might not vote or they will vote, but vote because their either raciest or sexists. Men that are racists will definitely vote for...
