Mission Statement: To promote a positive and successful educational learning environment where students can become thinkers/doers/ and excel. Also to plan and facilitate activities/special events that would further promote a positive student and staff morale. Furthermore through positive rewards and consequences students can learn to demonstrate behaviors that will allow them to be successful socially and emotionally.
For the school year 2009-10 school year, the staff at the William D Kelley Elementary School have met and identified concerns/highlights and possible solutions. In short, we have prepared strategies to implement for the next year which we feel would enhance academics and our school climate. Listed below are issues we want to closely monitor.
Mandatory Uniforms
Students will be required to wear their uniforms every day unless specified by Spirit Committee. Students who do not comply must wear a uniform given to them by the school. We feel any student not adhering to this policy (school mandate) after three consecutive times will be recommended for detention. Students wearing their uniforms will be recognized through assemblies and coupons.
I.D.‘s
Every student will be required to wear their badge which will be given to them by their teacher and collected at the end of the school day. Each student will be identifiable through various colors by floor and grade. Kinks will be addressed!!!
Positive Incentives (Working progress)
Kelley Coupons (caught doing good/uniforms/homework etc…),which could be staffed by the Home and School.
Continue Fun Fridays—once a month/parties/ dress down days
Trips once a month
Principal’s breakfast (each semester to address academic achievement)
Student of the Month
Sports clubs
Pay it forward program
After school detention (Remedial Reading/Basic Math Facts) Ms. Hall/one staff member will facilitate
Students will be referred for detention after 3 occurrences for any disruptions...
